General Homework Policy:
The purpose of Second Grade homework is to practice and solidify skills taught in the classroom. The expectation is that your child will spend time reviewing skills that are being taught in school. No student should spend more than 20 minutes on homework in any given subject. Please note, not all subject areas meet each day.
Please be sure to notify us of any subject, topic, or area your child may be struggling with. Homework should not be stressful!
Students’ assignments will be written in their homework planners. Please check these nightly as last minute homework changes can occur which may not be reflected on the homework page. If a student is absent due to illness, please contact me (aholloway@htsdc.org) for missed assignments. Missed homework will be due two days after their return to school. If your child will be absent due to vacation, please notify me at least one week before they will be out of school so that we can create a plan for missed work.

General Homework Policy:
The purpose of homework in the 3rd grade is to practice and expand skills independently. It is assigned on a regular basis, and is collected, corrected and returned promptly. The expectation is a total of 45 minutes for all subjects each night plus an additional 20 minutes of free choice reading. ***Please make a note whenever homework is completed with assistance as this will let us know that further in-class review is needed.
Students are expected to write all assignments in their homework planners. Time is allotted during class for this purpose. Assignments are expected to be completed neatly and turned in on the due date. Students record all missing homework in the Homework Log in the classroom and they are responsible for completing the work within 24 hours. ***Homework should NOT be stressful or keep a student up late. Please keep me informed of any major issues or difficulties with your child completing the homework.
