Ms. Gick
Second Grade – Ms. Gick
Homework for the week of January 17-20, 2012
General Homework Policy:
The purpose of Second Grade homework is to practice and solidify skills taught in the classroom. The expectation is that your child will spend time reviewing skills that are being taught in school. No student should spend more than 20 minutes on homework in any given subject. Please note, not all subject areas meet each day.
Please be sure to notify us of any subject, topic, or area your child may be struggling with. Homework should not be stressful!
Students’ assignments will be written in their homework planners. Please check these nightly as last minute homework changes can occurr which may not be reflected on the homework page. If a student is absent due to illness, please contact me (jgick@htsdc.org) for missed assignments. Missed homeework will be due two days after their return to school. If your child will be absent due to vacation, please notify me at least one week before they will be out of school so that we can create a plan for missed work.
Homework will NOT be assigned until after Back to School Night, Thursday, September 15th. Our first homework assignment will be Monday, September 19th.
LANGUAGE ARTS . MATH . RELIGION . SOCIAL STUDIES . SCIENCE
Second grade will have Language Arts homework Monday through Thursday nights. In addition, students will be expected to read nightly for 20 minutes. As the week progresses, students will record their reading on their Reading Log. The Reading Log should be signed every Thursday night by a parent and returned each Friday to school. All Language Art’s homework is DUE the day after it is assigned unless otherwise noted.
Spelling tests will be given on Fridays and students should study their words throughout the week. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns (jgick@htsdc.org).
