Art in Grade 5

In 5th Grade ART we meet on Wednesdays in half groups:

from 9:04 - 9:44 and from 9:46 - 10:26.

One of the last projects we had in 4th grade art was to make a clay sculpture of a four-legged animal.
We got them made, but the year ended and we did not get a chance to put a finish on them or display them.

We began 5th grade art by designing an environment for our animals.

The size of the environment will be 6 x 9 x 6".

The background will be in fabric.

STEP ONE

As a practice, we stitched 3" squares together.

We had many strips after 4 classes of stitching.
We decided to try to make a baby quilt .

The project is very fun because we are working on our sewing skills and making something for someone else.

Our teacher pieced the quilt together.

STEP 2

We are more confident of our sewing skills, so we are making the fabric backdrop to our animal dioramas. Enjoy our efforts!

We looked carefully at our sculptures
and decided what kind of environment
would be good for the animal.

We proceeded to make the drawings into fabric applique.
