Ms. Holbach and Mrs. Casey

Weather We go out for recess almost every day. In the morning, there is no sun in the courtyard. It takes until the second recess to warm up. I know that some people go from the house to the garage without going outside in the morning. Please check to make sure that your child has warm clothing, hats, and gloves/mittens. When it warms up, we allow the children to shed extra clothing so that they will not be overheated. If you wish, you could send a set of hat and hand covers to keep in the locker or you could keep a set in the backpack. In addition, the cold weather brings chapped lips. If you wish to send a form of "chapstick", we will put a name label on it and your child can keep it in his/her cubby drawer. That way, we can control sharing of the same "stick".

Advent We are fully into the season of Advent, waiting for the birthday of Jesus. In the classroom, we will focus on the spirit of the season, giving of ourselves to others. The children are learning songs to sing for the older friends from the Georgetown Fellowship who will come for lunch on the 9th. We will also make placemats for their tables. The children are preparing a gift of their performance for the Christmas Show on the 21st. We have discussed the meaning of Toy Sunday(the 12th), and how it is sometimes difficult to part with a favorite toy. A solution is to work in the house to earn money to buy a toy for a child who will probably have no other toys. If you and your child would like to participate but will not be at HT on the 12th, you may send the toy in and your child will bring it up to the library where toys will be kept until the 12th.

Other Celebrations and Observations On Monday, the 6th, we will celebrate St. Nicholas Day, the evening of the 7th is the first night of Hanukkah, the 8th is the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary(we will talk about Mary being the only person born who would always say "yes" to God), the 12th is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the 16th begins Las Posadas.

Egg Cartons If you buy the eggs that come in the clear plastic egg cartons, would you please save them and send them in to the classroom?
