Holy Trinity School Principal

Welcome to Holy Trinity School's Website. I am honored and pleased that you decided to "drop in for a visit". We are so proud of our school, its students and our Jesuit heritage. This year we will be celebrating the 188th anniversary of our school, making it the oldest school in what is now the District of Columbia. We are one of a very few Jesuit elementary schools on the East Coast. Therefore, it is not too surprising that our theme this year is “Finding God in All Things”, as St. Ignatius, founder of the Jesuits, would have us do. Throughout all of these years, we have been providing a strong academic and moral foundation to the children in the Washington metropolitan area, and to our parishioners.

Please allow me to tell you a little about our school. Holy Trinity accepts children of all races, cultures, nationalities, and religions. We offer a program for three-year olds (Nursery) and we continue though grade 8; although we are not strictly a neighborhood school, our students live in various neighborhoods in Washington, DC or in nearby Virginia or Maryland. Many arrive by public transportation, although most are transported by carpool.

We have a strong, supportive parent body which becomes involved in many ways throughout the school from fund-raising, to assisting on trips, speaking in classes and offering volunteer support. We have an active Home-School Association and a vitally important School Advisory Board.

.

The curriculum at Holy Trinity ranges from developmental in our Early Childhood classes to gradually increasing academic programs. We pride ourselves on recruiting and retaining excellent teachers, those who have not only mastered the art of teaching but who also know how to reach each child. These teachers become the role models and mentors for our children, but also are partners with parents in the educational process.

Holy Trinity School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and has recently taken part in an extensive study of Ignatian Spirituality as part of our re-accreditation project. “Lifting Up every Child, Using a Jesuit Decision-Making Model for Planning, Instruction and Assessment” has allowed our school to embark on a journey to rearticulate our mission and help our students understand the rich history of the Jesuits. We are also active members of NCEA and ASCD. We belong to the Archdiocese of Washington school system and follow their policies and curriculum. As a catholic school, we teach religion in all grades and there are many opportunities for our students to perform community service. Our sucess rate in our 8th graders being accepted to their first choice high schools has been exceptional and speaks to the quality of the academic program we offer. Most of our students attend Catholic high schools after leaving Holy Trinity.

Admission questions and procedures should be directed to Mrs. Kim Crismali, our Admissions Director. Since we usually have a waiting list for each class, it may be prudent to inquire before your child is actually ready to attend.

I hope that you will learn more about Holy Trinity School because I believe that the more you learn and experience the loving and caring atmosphere, the more you will understand why this "family" we call Holy Trinity is so very special. We look forward to talking with you further and welcoming you into our school family.
