Lesson Ten: Modifying Shapes & Creating Your Own Shape

MicroWorlds EX has a large library of included shapes that are ready to go. There are 3 categories of shapes that can be accessed by clicking on the yellow clip art/shapes icon in the top grey toolbar.

The three categories of available shapes (and the colors and brushes to add your own artwork) can be found by clicking on the appropriate icon at the top of the Clip Art/ Shapes panel that opens up on the right side of your screen:

Since the included shapes are fairly detailed for high-resolution screens, they are difficult to modify or create from scratch without putting in a lot of time. So, start with one of the current shapes and go from there. You can change their orientation easily and use the pain bucket tool to change their colors without too much trouble. Just open the turtle's backpack, go to its Shapes tab at the bottom of the backpack and then find the shape you want to edit and double-click on it. It is usually good practice to make a copy of the shape you plan to change FIRST in case you want to keep the original copy, or revert to it after you make a change that doesn't turn out to your liking!

Animating Shapes - This category makes it easy to create some animation in your project. Don't forget that you can add additional copies of these shapes and tilt them in new directions for going up and down hill or spinning in midair.

Lesson Eleven: Coming Soon??? Until then, keep exploring on your own!
