MicroWorlds EX™ Lessons
Lesson Nine: Tying Multiple Pages Together
Creating New Pages, Duplicating Pages and Backgrounds, Ordering Pages and Removing Them
| New Pages - All MicroWorlds EX projects automatically start out on page1 (notice there are no spaces used in page names, just like procedure names.) You can always add a new page by pulling down Pages from the top grey toolbar and choosing New Page. All new pages created will be named page2, page3, page4 and so on. These will stay in alphabetical order so page10 and page11 will appear before page2 in any lists, but you control the order they appear in your project. You can also use the New Page icon and two blue arrow icons just under the pages pull-down menu to create pages or navigate between them. When you are designing the flow of your project, you can rename pages, or put them in any order you want by typing in: page1 wait 20 page14 wait 15 page3 wait 10 page 2...... |

Wallpaper - If you want to create the perfect background setting for ALL your pages, then pull down Pages from the top grey toolbar and choose wallpaper. After you design the perfect page background, it will become the same background for ALL of your pages in the project (You will NOT be able to change this even with the clear graphics command, so make sure this is what you truly want to do!)
Snapshot - If you want to capture all of the background and stamped items, but NO turtles from one page, you can type in the command Snapshot. This will grab all of the background colors and stamped items and then when you arrive at your destination page where you want all the same stuff to go, just type in Restore.
Duplicate Page - Another command that comes in handy is also under the Pages menu in the top grey toolbar. Once you have a page in perfect shape, you can choose Duplicate Page from that toolbar and the program will create an identical copy of the page, turtles included. I use this feature to help bring messages to the viewer. By waiting until a page is in the final form, I can duplicate the page and add a textbox. The textbox allows me to give any message, joke or instruction to the user, but then politely disappears when I jump back to the original page, so I can move along with my story.
Removing Pages - Sooner or later, you will end up botching a page that you just don't need. To get rid of this mistake, click on Project (one of the tabs on the bottom of the column on the right side of your screen).
If the Shapes page isn't in the way, you will see a list of the pages in your project AND the items that are on this page, (like the image at the right ------>>>)including turtles and textboxes, sliders and buttons. If you are SURE you want to delete the page, just right-click on it and choose Remove.
